Welcome to the Gaia School of Natural Health

Level 5 2016-17 Level 5 2016-17

The foremost private training school for complementary therapies on the Wirral. Established in 2008, our graduates are now employed in holistic centres, hospices, gyms, schools and private practice across Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and further afield. Our ethos is to provide detailed, thorough, high standard and in depth training. We therefore offer the highest level of reflexology training available (Level 5) and ensure that all our courses meet, and often go beyond, the National Occupational Standards and Core Curriculum for that therapy. Your qualification will be accepted by well respected professional associations, insurers and national registers. We therefore do not offer short cut or fast track courses.

We currently offer the following professionally accredited qualifications:

Level 5 Diploma in
Practitioner Reflexology
accredited by Agored Cymru

Level 3 Diploma in
Aromatherapy
accredited by the FHT

A programme of CPD events for qualified therapists is also available such as:

All CPD courses taught by Carolyn Roberts are accredited by the Professional Reflexology Association.

Or for those completely new to reflexology, a day course to introduce you to this wonderful therapy and perhaps inspire you to pursue a fulfilling career in reflexology.

Introduction to
Reflexology

Level 5 Reflexology

Here at the Gaia School we are thrilled to be running the Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology. This Level 5 is the highest level of reflexology training available in the UK. We teach clinical reflexology with a strong holistic emphasis on energy work and meridian theories, and also a specialist focus on fertility and maternity reflexology. We aim to equip prospective practitioners with a thorough and professional grounding in both practical and theoretical knowledge, and to equip them with all the skills necessary to become gifted and versatile health professionals.

RLD CPD

This Level 5 course is an advancement in the arena of reflexology training. Prior to its development the highest qualification available was the Diploma at Level 3. For those of you who are wanting to learn Reflexology at the highest level and practice clinical and therapeutic reflexology then this Level 5 Diploma is the course for you. Please note that the Level 5 course is aimed at beginners rather than already qualified reflexologists, so no prior learning is required.

The course is accepted by:

Professional Reflexology Association for full membership (PRM), and the

Association of Reflexologists (AOR) for full membership (MAR status).

Successful graduates from this Level 5 course will be recognised by the letters L5 Dip. or CRM L5 Dip after their names.

The Gaia School of Natural Health is a COVID-19 Secure Workplace.

We confirm that we have complied with the government’s guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19. We have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment. We have cleaning, handwashing and hygiene measures in place, in line with guidance. We have taken all reasonable steps to maintain a 2m distance. Where people cannot be 2m apart, we have done everything practical to manage transmission risk.

AOR Covid19 secure

In addition, we have done this in an environmentally friendly way. The Gaia School of Natural Health will not be recommending use of any disposable or single use items - no wipes, no paper couch roll, no throwaway masks or aprons. Everything will be cleanable and re-usable. And no harsh chemicals either. Just safe, natural effective products to clean and sanitise. Our students and visitors are expected to follow this environmentally friendly policy too.

Recommended suppliers

Recommended suppliers for PPE and cleaning products to keep us COVID secure in class and in our treatments with our clients.

Here at the Gaia School of Natural Health we take our environmentally friendly ethos very seriously. It is completely possible to be COVID secure and meet legal requirements without needing to damage the environment. Everything I recommend is re-usable, and we do not use harsh chemicals for cleaning. So, there are no single use wipes or masks used, nor disposable PPE. Here are my recommendations:

Type IIR reusable face mask

It is a legal requirement that we wear a Type II face mask. Most therapists wrongly assume that they are the single use plastic ones, but I strongly recommend you invest in a re-usable mask.

There are several certified Type II re-usable ones available including the Commuter from Breathe Happy

Another face mask Ecobreathe is supplied by Mask Bros. This company does a medical grade Type IIR recyclable mask. They give you a pre-paid shipping label to send them back to recycle into anything from plastic bottles to plastic car parts. Mask Bros Ecobreathe-med face mask

Visors or Goggles

These are also legally required for close contact work. Out of the different visors I have tried, I have found these the most comfortable.

Follow this link Flatshield to view their products which are made in Staffordshire.

I don’t yet have any recommendations on goggles.

Cleaning Products

Dew products are made in Dundee. Free of harsh chemicals. Hand sanitiser is alcohol-free.

I use their hand sanitisers, Disinfect spray for cleaning equipment and chairs, and Air Spray which kills viruses in the air and on soft furnishings.

You can also buy a bottle of Concentrate so that once your product bottle is empty it can be refilled by adding a small amount of the concentrate and some tap water.

You can read more information about the products, how they kill viruses and how they should be used on their website.

Apron

Do a search on ebay for Premier Colours Bib Apron with pocket. Colour: Rich Violet.

The Premier Colours collection is produced by Premier Workwear on Deeside, just a few miles from here, but unfortunately you cannot buy direct from them. Various companies of ebay offer it. At the time of writing this was the cheapest, and discounts are offered the more you buy. The apron is available without a pocket too, but not in the Rich Violet. I find the pocket useful for a small bottle of hand sanitiser.

Ebay work apron link

Then take your apron to the Other Uniform Store at Brimstage Courtyard on the Wirral School stuff and ask them to add the Gaia School logo onto the bib for you. This costs £3.50 per item. The shop is just 4 minutes drive from the Women’s Institute so it might be possible for you to drop something off there whilst you are in class and pick it up later (but this should be discussed with them as they usually ask for a couple of days to work on an item). They are open 9-5.

The above suppliers/products are recommendations only. Gaia School of Natural Health does not benefit in anyway if you use any of these suppliers.

AromaReflex Testimonial

”I can highly recommend AromaReflex with GAIA. The course was so well organised from start to finish and the knowledge provided on the course was abundant, clear and well communicated. It was such a good course that I would like to return to do a full aromatherapy course in the future. The tutor was very welcoming and the other students were very friendly too. Certainly one of the best complementary therapy courses I have attended.“

Advanced AromaReflex Testimonial

”This is such an amazing course and has really reinforced my love for Essential Oils. Carolyn has put so much time and consideration into selecting the 40 beautiful oils which we will be working with during our Reflexology treatments! I can't wait to see the powerful effects they will have on my clients. Carolyn is a kind, caring and extremely supportive tutor and made us all feel at such ease through both days. She has made sure we have all the information we require moving forward so we are brimming with confidence!
I loved making the sniffy sticks and roller balls in the practical sessions.
I will definitely be booking another course with Gaia very soon.“
