Indian Head Massage CPD Diploma

Indian Head Massage CPD Diploma

led by Debbie Hurst of Harmony Holistics Wirral.

Indian Head massage is a standalone 45 minute treatment that is very popular with clients. The treatment involves massage techniques being applied to the upper back, shoulders, neck, arms, face, head and scalp areas, usually whilst they are in a seated or forward leaning position. It is excellent for relieving stress and tension to these areas which can therefore help with headaches, eye strain, and pain and discomfort. It also leads to general feelings of wellbeing and calm.

Suitable for existing therapists with a recognised qualification (including anatomy, physiology and pathology). If you have qualified in aromatherapy, reflexology or reiki with the Gaia School of Natural Health then your qualification is accepted.

Course content:

  • Introduction and history of Indian Head Massage
  • Benefits and effects, contra-indications and healing responses
  • Full treatment techniques including acupressure and marma points
  • How to adapt the treatment e.g. what to include in a short taster treatment
  • Anatomy, physiology and pathology of the head, neck, upper back and arms, skin and hair.
  • Health, hygiene and safety working practices
  • Positioning of the therapist and client
  • Record keeping and treatment evaluation
  • Carrier oil information
  • Aftercare advice.

On completion of the course, assessment questions and case studies, you will be awarded a CPD Diploma in Indian Head Massage (IHM) from the Gaia School of Natural Health in association with Harmony Holistics Wirral. This is accepted by major insurance companies such as Alan Boswell and Balens, for you to gain insurance to offer IHM as a therapy for the public. Please note that the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and Complementary Therapists Association (CThA) will only accept this certificate if you already hold a Level 3 in Body Massage and in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology, and will only list it that you offer Head, Neck and Shoulder Massage, not IHM. If your therapist insurance is with any company other than those mentioned, you are advised to check with them before booking onto this course, to make sure that they will accept this certificate for you to add IHM onto your policy.

For queries about this course please contact Debbie Hurst email or call 07712 889212.

In order to satisfy CPD training requirements you will be required to submit 3 follow up treatments in order to obtain your certificate.

There are 16 Guided Learning Hours for this CPD course, which includes some home study, the day in class (6.5 contact hours), and your 3 case studies. Therefore, this course attracts 14 CPD points from FHT (6 for attending the course, 3 for completing case studies, and 4 for the home study), 15 CPD points from PR, and 15 CPD points from the AOR.

On successful completion of the course you will become eligible to use the "Trained by" Gaia logo.
